How Subservient are Ghouls and Revenants?

Hi y’all. I’ve been a storyteller for a few years, absolutely love the game and the subreddit has been good to me so thanks everybody. Anyways:

Exactly how subservient are ghouls and revenants? I’ve ran loads of stories with ghouls (never incorporated revenants) and a lot of times they’re pretty mindlessly obedient, but I was looking into the mechanical answer for this and I couldn’t find an exact one for V5, beyond of course the general manipulations of their masters.

Are they blood bonded, and are sort of just at a hefty disadvantage to oppose their masters? How long does the blood bond last? Is it a maximum bond automatically? Outside of manipulation and lore rationale, what mechanically in-game prevents them from defying them? How does this apply to revenants?
