How do I get my watch back from u/ACSwatches?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice on how to deal with a situation involving a watch restorer u/ACSwatches (he has deleted his reddit account) from Chennai.

I was looking to service my vintage hmt mechanical online, so he reached out to me on reddit dm that he deals with vintage watches and can do it for me. So I sent him my watch for servicing and a light polish in June 2025. He returned it in July, but it had become magnetised during transit. When I informed him, he agreed to send me a demagnetiser, which I received and tried using, but the problem persisted.

He then offered to replace the movement for free, so I shipped the watch back to him on 13th August, which he received on 17th August. Since then, he has kept delaying—first promising to ship it by 10th September, then 15th September, and later saying he was closing his shop.

As of 6th October, he has stopped responding to my calls and Whatsapp messages, and I still haven’t received my watch or any tracking details.

I have his full address and phone numbers, but I’m not sure what’s the best way to get my watch back. Should I file an e-FIR, send a legal notice, or try something else first? Has anyone here faced something similar before?

Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated.
