[M4F] Helping your sister move in for college

It is the absolute dregs of summer. Heat rises off the asphalt outside and the ceiling fan is spinning frantically above my head. What’s worse is that my air conditioning chose today to break entirely.

My phone buzzes.

“heyyy it’s kaitlyn. are you busy?”

I re-read the text, confusion on my face. I hadn’t heard from Kaitlyn in a while. She was a good bit younger than me, and my last encounters with her included little more than her bored, classic gen Z attitude.

“No I’m free, what’s up?” I replied, and then watched as the typing indicator danced on my phone.

“i just moved into my new apartment and need help building some furniture. can u help?” Whatever, anything to get out of my oven of an apartment today.

“Yeah I’ll be right over, send me the address.”
