Out of town HELP PLEASE!
Hi, everyone! I will be going out of town for over a week, and my lovely mama has agreed to water my plants while I am gone. I love my mom so much, bless her heart, but she does not have a green thumb. I gave her a golden pothos cutting and helped her plant it this summer. She likes plants, just doesn't keep them alive very well. The pothos has been overwatered, underwatered, and grown mold a few times since we potted it. I understand it is not easy for everyone to learn to care for plants though, and I keep an eye on it for her.
Anyway, how the heck do I give her instructions on watering? I keep a log of when I water my plants, not to water them on a schedule but to track approximate frequency as the seasons change.
I don't know how I should estimate amounts of water because I just use my watering can for all my plants, whereas I have to give her specific quantities for her pothos. She isn't great at detecting when soil is dry, even with using a skewer stick to see if it comes out dry like a cake.
Most of my plants won't need water as the seasons are changing, but I am afraid she will overwater and cause mold.
I have some water propagations in glass, should I just use a marker to indicate approximate fill line for each cutting?
I only have 35 plants but I know it will be overwhelming for her. She suggested I show her my methods before I leave. Do you guys have any tips for people who plant-sit for you?
