Recommendations for Blues newbie

Alr basically, Ive listened to shit tons of blues rock (Clapton, Zeppelin, Canned Heat etc) but im looking to delve into some “proper” blues artists if that makes sense, due to my circumstances, who would be some good artist to start with for someone who’s more used to the more bombastic blues rock style, I’ve tried listening to a bit of Johnson and stuff but his stuff is honestly just too primitive for me.
