The 30% Loyalty Point Bonus Reward with select partners automatically activated?

I've been on the 20% LP Bonus Reward since June. I've just returned from a long vacation for which I booked several Aadvantage Hotel stays. I knew that when my departure flight posted that I would be in at the next Reward election level. I didn't make an election because I had planned to wait until March, and elect the 30% LP Bonus reward at that time. Several of the pre-paid AA hotel stays have posted an LP bonus at 30% instead of 20%. Have they changed the rules to an automatic activation rather than member activated? Could there be another explanation that you are aware of? TY
