I need help to make a custom PC

Hi! I’m looking into a PC and I’ve never had anything to do with PCs before. I’m sort of set on a custom build because people have said it’s cheaper. I’ve looked at PC specialist website seen as that has also been suggested but they haven’t contacted back yet. Is someone able to help me understand what I need and any suggestions for a custom gaming PC under £1000? Also any websites thank you!
