Hormone levels

I’ve asked my doc to do a few easy blood tests so I can see my hormone levels. She told me I should go to a naturopath for that. That they don’t really do that… Umm what? This is the same doc giving me my HRT. So I ask how does she know what dose to prescribe for my estrogen patches, etc. she explained they go based off symptoms. This seems very odd to me. Is this across the board how most doctors handle this?

I choose a woman dr because I stupidly assumed she might be more patient with me understanding my body in these rapidly changing times.
