How did you set your trading rules?

Advice

I’ve (27m) always been interested in day trading, but never had been able to get into it. Recently, with the help of a friend i was able to start to grasp the concept and have been paper trading futures for the past 3 Weeks.

Im able to be profitable (so far) , but i found myself today YOLOing trades. At one point i was down 10k. In the end, I was able to recover and end up with +200$ on the day. But it doesn’t feel right. I was basically just messing around at that point. I know my mistake today was increasing my position size while trying to chase a short.

My strategy is basically looking at price action and seeing how price reacts at support and resistance levels based on the volume. I’m basically trying to implement what i’ve read in Anna Coullings VPA book.

I’m planning on starting a prop account in the near future, but i obviously shouldn’t if i don’t have my rules in places.

Are there any resources that dive deeper into this topic that you guys recommend?

What are some examples of rules that you have in your trading?
