Why the California Redistricting is bad!
This is a rant. Because it should be much better.
I live in California and we are redistricting. Specifically I am District 12. Lateefah Simon is my representative. She is exactly the Democrat we have elected for the last many Decades. Not up for the fight in my opinion.
Amazingly so my district looked like this in the 2024 primary:
"Candidate % Votes
Lateefah Simon (D) Candidate Connection 55.9 86,031
Jennifer Tran (D) Candidate Connection 14.9 22,999
Tony Daysog (D) Candidate Connection 11.2 17,222
Stephen Slauson (R) 6.3 9,710 "
Notice the Republican got 6.3%. We are top 2 move on so in the general all votes are D.
It is hard to exactly map this district onto other votes without going precinct by precinct. But Alameda county is a close representation and Kamala got 75% of the vote.
In the redistricting map...our district stays basically identical. Why the hell is this? This is true for most of the Bay Area. We should have a wheel and spoke looking district going out from the bay area to the valley. Or the mountains if needed. Or districts that are not physically connected. Who cares.
They Dem's don't want this because they are still trying to protect their precious flowers. I am done with it. If the general plan was not good overall I would not vote for it.
If you are going to fight...fucking fight. They are giving love slaps, and the other side is using guns and bullet proof vests.
