Aysen Itinerary and Accommodations
We have visited Chile several times but never the Aysen Region. We have always wanted to travel the Ruta 7 from Puerto Montt to Villa O'Higgins. We are still avid day hikers but our camping days are mostly behind us. I'm trying to create an itinerary focused on longer stops (hiking centers) along the route and I am interested in recommendations for lodgings along the way where we can have some comfortable off days. For example, Caleta Gonzalo looks to be ideal for exploring Pumalin Park, but I'm curious about a home base for Queulat National Park. Itinerary looks something like Pumalin - Queulat - Cerro Castillo - Puerto Rio Tranquillo - Parque Patagonia - Caleta Tortel - Villa O'Higgins. We are not averse to spending for accommodations - I'd love to visit the Explora in Parque Patagonia - but would far prefer a cozy B&B to a tired "luxury" lodge. The itinerary will be dictated by the accommodations this time.
Recommendations? What am I missing?
