About Japanase Xenophobia

I am from Turkiye and the idea of ​​studying at a university in Japan sounds really appealing, but from what Ive heard from both the media and my friends, Japanese people prefer to stay away from foreigners whether they follow their rules or not. I understand that ok Im not a very social person anyway, but having no friends while studying engineering for five years really scares me. Im not talking about a girlfriend, I'm talking about being friendless. Is there a way to reduce xenophobia?
