I am talking to a man from Ramallah (West Bank) we met on a dating app. He's a little younger than me but we got along well. Pretty soon after talking he said that he loved me. Never had a relationship. Is this just a cultural difference? Or red flag?

So like the title says, that occured. We had only been texting and he started telling me that he loved me but aside from saying this to me he seemed like a pretty smart person. I explained to him that where I am from (USA) It is not really normal to say you love somebody so soon and therefore I don't feel comfortable with him saying that to me but I appreciate the kind words.

But here is the thing. On this app I am using where I can talk to mine from various different countries I have had many say this to me within a day or two's time. Often they are from places like Morocco, France, Algeria, Spain, Turkey, etc.

So because so many men have said this to me I am starting to wonder if it's just a cultural difference, lack of dating experience, different view of love, and the worst thought, someone trying to use me for a green card. Which I even hate suspecting someone of that. But I know people do this sometimes.

Anyway back to the guy I am talking to. He is a virgin. I am not. He has never had a relationship except for online once with a girl from Indonesia. He works in a store in Ramallah that his family owns. He's generally pretty laid back, funny, kind, and romantic. He seems like a nice person but I haven't known him for very long.

When we first met he told me that in 3 months when he graduates University he is going to apply to move to Canada. Last night he said something about how he doesn't want to use me but maybe he could just come to the US instead of going to Canada. Which honestly I'm not even sure how I could help with that at all because it's not like we are married..

I told him that maybe it's just best if he goes to Canada and then eventually we can meet. It's pretty easy for me to travel to Canada anyway if I want to. Not sure how it works for people in his case who aren't from their originally but at least I know I could easily travel to Canada.

Also I told him that I had talked to someone else who is from his country and that this other man told me that if a guy is saying he loves me so soon he is a liar. When I told the guy I am talking to this, he said that this other guy was just saying this to "get a green card." Lol. Which was the first time he ever brought up anything about a green card.

So him saying that would make him seem like he's not like that. I guess the only reason I feel a little bit unsure about the whole thing is because of the fact that I find him extremely handsome and I think he could have many options with women. Not that I'm ugly. But I am a little older, I already have a 5 year old child, I'm not a virgin and he is. However he's also super confident and romantic. I have honestly never met a man in all of my life who is as romantic as he is.

I usually think I have a pretty good judge of character and he doesn't come off to me like somebody who is being fake when we video call. He seems genuine. But I actually have no idea what it's like to have a relationship with somebody who's using you for a green card.

The only red flag I've seen so far is just him saying he loves me so soon and then when we finally video called he confirmed that he feels that way and that he knows I feel it too and explained why. I told him that maybe it's a type of love like a general love for people but I think love takes time to actually grow. Romantic love. And for now I just like him. However he keeps saying he loves me. But he doesn't mind that I don't say it back.

Is this just how men from this area are? Are they very quick to fall in love or is this just a cultural difference? I don't want to just jump to conclusions and think that he is trying to use me. He has never had a physical in person relationship however he seems very wise and smart when he talks about love and relationships and life in general. Thank you.
