CMS Attendance “Education Opportunities”

New to the CMS system and found it interesting that we have to submit a letter/form to get excused absences for our kid to travel with us. We don’t normally pull them from school but this a big, cultural family event, with family we never get to see.

Has anyone had success with approval or more insight on what can be considered an educational opportunity? Thanks in advance!
