Does anyone else notice things appearance wise or personality wise they could do to fit in better, but choose not to?
So I’ve straightened my hair for the first time in over a year today and just noticed how much more “conventionally attractive” I look with straight hair. It makes my face look slimmer and somehow makes my body look slimmer too. I just had the thought of how much I would fit in more with people if I kept it straight.
I really don’t like it though because it doesn’t feel like me. My curly hair is a form of self expression and I wouldn’t want to change it just so society likes me more. I also dress alternatively and do crazy makeup so that’s something this applies to as well.
Basically I can see a vision of a version of myself that would perfectly fit in to the mold, that would have gotten me accepted back in high school, and I’m happy to say I don’t want to be her.
Has anyone else had this experience, either with your appearance or with major things about your personality?
