My beater Impala took a shit, likely it's final since fixing it will cost more than it's worth. So I hit up marketplace. Initially looking for another car, then it turned to a Tahoe or Yukon. Local car lot had an 02 Yukon Denali for $5200 with 196k on it. Price didn't correlate with the mileage IMO, but it photographed well... props to their photographer. When I crawled under it... rocker covers over no rockers, and rust everywhere. I kept looking, probably looking at 30 different gmt800 suvs. Didn't find one that struck my fancy.

I was about to text my neighbor about the 02 that he had, while rusty, he's had it for years and just didn't drive it anymore, so I know it would at least be reliable.

Then I opened marketplace one more time, first hit that popped up was this little beauty for $4k. Advertised as a southern truck, with 200k on it, and it appeared to have rockers!

Went and looked at it, cracked windshield, and the odometer said 320k. PO said he bought it in Texas from a guy who said the cluster went out and was swapped. Crawl under it, definitely a southern truck. There are even factory stickers on the frame still. Test drive it, and it drives mint. Runs great, shifts nice. We get back and with the windshield, and the milage that "scares me", I hit him at $3200 as I pull a wad of 30 $1000 bills out of my pocket, knowing there's 5 stashed in my other pocket, and 5 more tucked in the back of my wallet. He came back at $3500, since it was a fresh post, and I was actually the first to look at it. Peeled of 5 more and the deal was done. Been driving it a couple weeks, and I love this thing. 5.3 airbox had me thinking it was a 5.3 truck, turns out it's a 4.8 truck. Oh well, going to do everything I wanted it to do anyways, and now I have another truck so I can work on my Quadrasteer without worrying about being down a truck.

Little body damage, but no rot to deal with, I'd call it a win. And even with the body damage, it doesn't look terrible. Debating on which hood and grille to install.
