16 full days in France, Switzerland and Italy

Hello,

My husband and I are planning a trip we will have 16 full days that’s not including the travel day in or out. We plan to start in Paris which we’ll take an overnight flight to and arrive in Paris the morning of Day 1. We plan to sleep on the plane and start our trip immediately. We are not huge city people and my husband is from France so we figured 3 full days in Paris is enough to see the main attractions. Let me know what you think about this trip and the pacing. If there’s anything you would change or if you think certain destinations need more time. Thank you!

Day 1- Arrive in Paris around 7am-8am and spend the whole day sightseeing.

Day 2- full day in Paris

Day 3- full day in Paris

Day 4- we would leave for Colmar which is 2hrs and 20 minutes and arrive around 10am and spend the whole day there and spend the night. I’ve heard Colmar is a small town and 1 day/night is enough.

Day 5- we would head to Lucerne which is 2 hours away and get there around 12pm and spend the rest of the day in Lucerne.

Day 6- spend a full day in Lucerne

Day 7- head to Swiss alps in the morning 1 hour 45 minute train ride. Arrive around 9am and spend the rest of the day here. We are unsure where we will be staying exactly either interlaken or lauterbrunnen.

Day 8- interlaken/lauterbrunnen/grindelwald

Day 9- interlaken/lauterbrunnen/grindelwald

Day 10- take a train from Switzerland to Florence 5-6 hours depending on the train. Leave around 7:30am and arrive in Florence at 1:30pm. Spend the rest of the day in Florence

Day 11- Florence

Day 12-Florence

Day 13-Florence but we would do a day trip to the Tuscany country for a wine tasting

Day 14- head to cinque terre in the morning. 2.5 hour train ride. Arrive around 10am and spend the rest to the day in cinque terre

Day 15- cinque terre

Day 16- cinque terre

Day 17- take a train from cinque terre to Milan in the morning. 3 hour train ride. Get to Milan around 11am and catch a flight back home from Milan around 3-4pm.

This is my first trip out of the country I know we won’t be able to see all of Italy and we plan to go back in the future to do Verona, Venice and Rome. This trip my husband really wants to go to cinque terre so we figured we’ll go to Florence since it’s close. Let me know any tips and what you think of the plan! Thank you.
