My life with autism
I understand struggle, I’m autistic and bipolar and I’ve spent my whole life in Special Ed, I went to this school called Willowglen Academy in Sparta, New Jersey before I went there I went to this school called The DLC, I was mainstreamed for a short while at normandy Park school but my behavior was too unmanageable so they kicked me out, I was given structure and clear expectations which were pounded into me both in school and at home, they would restrain me anytime I had erratic behavior and I was not allowed to go anywhere without supervision. I’ve been in assisted living for several years, these group homes are assisted living for special needs adults, I disliked almost everything about these group homes and day programs, the rules, the isolation, all these odd people, I didn’t feel that I was getting support I felt trapped. I’ve been taking classes at Raritan Valley community college at the achievement center and working towards attending art school.
