Seeing the latest conjuring made me miss the first paranormal activity movie and that found footage style of filming.
I hate the overly CGId, gaping smiling demons in mirrors or behind characters, very predictable jump scares, and the whole movie taking an hour to reach its final conclusion. It’s so cheesy.
What happened to the found footage style movies? Like the original paranormal activity? It had such a charm, such a genuine fear inducing vibe especially with the deep resonating white noise in every shot. Maybe also because it was shot in a typical suburban looking house.
That movie kickstarted my sleep issues when I was a kid and they never recovered. But it also pushed me into loving the paranormal. I miss those genuine passion projects and i hate these massive obesely budgeted hollywood movies.
I still to this day refuse to watch any paranormal activity movie again. Yet I’ll gladly binge each conjuring movie as it just doesn’t hit the same.
