Would this be considered dark romance?
I’m writing something but I’m not really sure what kind of genre it is? Like it might be dark romance, but tbh not really, and if not I don’t know what it would be instead.
(Sorry for the essay below) Tw: genocide, attempted suicide, self harm, s/a
The general plot line is that there’s these two characters (A, B) that both love each other, butA um killed the B’s entire family (for certain reasons) and so obviously there’s some issues between them… B can’t truly hate A bc they love A, so instead hates themselves. Stuff happens, and they meet again, A is all half-half regretful, sort of not regretful (uhhh mixed feelings essentially), but doesn’t hate B at all.
B wants A to kill them, but A doesn’t want them to die, so B tries to make A hate them by doing a series of very questionable and bad things (including s/a, with the intention of it being bad and trying to get A to hate them). When that doesn’t work, B decides to try and hang themselves but A stops them.
(tldr) thus they become locked in this weird ass relationship where:
- B hates themselves and wants to die (but mostly for A to kill them)
- both of them don’t want the other to die
- neither of them can truly hate each other
- both are scarred by the other’s actions (A committing genocide of B’s clan, B doing a number of terrible things to A personally)
