Illustration of BUSU’s situation
If I can illustrate this right…
BUSU is like a castle. Inside that castle sits Robert the self-proclaimed “ruler”surrounded by his loyal puppy staff, who nod along to every command without question. Although he should be the one nodding to student’s decisions.
At the gates stand the student executives, the doorkeepers of the castle. Their job? To fend off any students who dare to question what’s really happening inside. They’re the first line of defense, trained to protect the castle’s image rather than the students’ interests.
And then, we have the Board of Directors, the supposed landlords of the castle. On paper, they hold ultimate authority. In reality, they’re brought in once a month, shown a few polished reports, told that everything is “fine,” and then politely asked to stay quiet until the next summons.
They’re meant to represent the people, but the truth is they’re kept in the dark, fed half-truths, and used to rubber-stamp decisions made long before the meeting even starts. If they try to hold them accountable, either they are kicked out or divided just like the present board.
So yes, BUSU is a castle not one built for students, but one guarded against them.
