The current state of Spider-man

Spider-man is my favorite character in Marvel and the reason I started playing this game in season 0. I've got him Lord and still play him even in his weak state. But we've gotten to a point when someone wants to try this game and Spider-man is there favorite character and they go to a Spider-man themed reddit to ask for tips and the unanimous answer is either don't play Spider-man or don't play the game or at the very least play with chat off or you'll be cussed out. Are you guys OK with a character who has a big potential to bring in new players being in an almost unplayable state?
