Car Financing Fell Through
Good evening all,
I want to start off by saying I’m not the most financially savvy person, but I’m also not 100% ignorant.
So in August 2025 I bought a 2022 Mazda 3 and traded in my 2018 F-150. I had a balance which they paid off and then gave me an extra $1200. I also put $1000 as a down payment. Fast forward to today (Oct 6, 2025), I get a call saying the financing fell through and I need to pay a higher interest and payment. I told them no way and asked for my truck back. They stated that it was paid off and sold (I have the payoff form). I told them to honor the deal or I’ll have to get my money back. They said that the deal cannot happen and they will only give me roughly $2500 (down and positive equity). This inconveniences me as I’ve been paying the insurance premium, will be left without a car, and have been hit with credit damage from them running my credit (5 hard inquiries Oct 4). They have a clause in the buyer agreement that they have 45 days to change or cancel the deal. It’s been over the 45 days therefore I know I’m not legally obligated to accept new/different terms.
What leg do I have to stand on? What could I do or demand in this situation? This is in FL. I plan on contacting an attorney, but I’d like to hear if anyone had a similar experience. TIA!
