Have I been experiencing meltdowns and just didn't realise it?

Newly Diagnosed

36M

Disclaimer- only found out last week that I'm likely level 1 autistic.

I sustained a psychologist workplace injury last year due to ongoing workplace bullying. I have not been for to work since may of 2024.

A reoccuring pattern since my absence of leave is to periodically fly into a fit of rage when exposed to triggers. Not regular anger - rage- absolutely livid.

These "events" are extremely intense for me and I usually take days to recover. I'll generally get really angry and then once I've calmed down I'll feel really down and self critical.

I was diagnosed with major depression earlier this year. But as I learn more about myself, especially over this last week, I'm wondering if there is more too it than just the injury.

I suppose it's something to speak to my therapist about. Perhaps it's just more of a trauma repsonse opposed to an autistic meltdown.

The only kicker is that I've had similar experiences even prior to the injury - like if I got into an arguement with my partner and got upset- I would need to completely isolate and calm down on my own.
