Unemployment to Building CandidateSeekers: Let’s Make Hiring Better

Pinned

Hello everyone,

I’m an unemployed mother navigating this challenging job market alongside all of you. Amid the frustration of endless applications and “resume black holes,” I started building CandidateSeekers, a platform designed to give candidates control in a job market that often seems stacked against them.

We’ve all seen the trending hashtags on LinkedIn, #JobSeeker and #OpenToWork, used by countless candidates trying to get noticed. But what if we flipped the system so we don't have to beg for recognition? What if, instead of endlessly sending resumes into voids, candidates could be matched directly to roles based on salary, skills, education, certifications, location, work preferences, languages spoken, role level, and more? And what if hiring teams could instantly see the candidates who fit their criteria without sifting through hundreds or thousands of resumes? That is the vision behind CandidateSeekers. Candidate profiles act as living resumes with the option to upload your traditional resume too.

This subreddit is for unemployed humans, not AI bots. It is a place to encourage each other, share progress, and document the journey of building a tool that helps everyone in the job market, candidates and recruiters alike. I will be sharing updates, insights, and lessons learned as I finish building the platform even while wrestling with design and development challenges as a non-developer.

Whether you are searching for your next opportunity, a recruiter tired of endless resumes, or someone curious about the future of hiring, this space is for you.

Let’s make hiring smarter, faster, fairer, and more human together.
