Never seen a type of scam like this, is it a scam?

Private Message (PM)

I posted a screenshot on my main reddit account about just having hit $25k in my retirement account.

Guy messages me asking how I’m approaching investing from the short vs long term. We talk a little then he asks to connect on Linkedin. Before that, he mentions a side hustle he has making $4k/month selling Sports/Pokemon cards. I tell him that’s cool and we connect on LinkedIn.

I dont message him back because I have class so he somehow gets my phone number from my LinkedIn account and texts me. He says we should talk more about the card stuff we were talking about last night and says it would be a good opportunity for us both.

I’m not really taking this guy seriously because I’m not stupid enough to send a random money so I just say I’m so down to see how far it’ll go. He sends a contract where I lend him $5000 and he returns $5750 (15% interest). I say I don’t even have that much liquid rn and I’d only do a few hundred max. I start to question him, saying “and if you’re upset that i’m skeptical then i’m okay with that,” and he replies:

“You realize this would be backed by a notary? My job means more than a few thousand

… It’s a contract with a placeholder….dont say you’re interested in something if you don’t mean it

…. Do you know what a contract, a notary, and legal implications are?”

I tell him I must be out of line then because I have no idea what this shit really means, I’m a college student focused on school ngl. He says

“Like smh. Anyways wish you the best, sorry to bother you.

You should brush up on things before coming off uneducated and rude on topics

I mean that with respect as it could bite you in the ass in school and post school

Sorry? lol”

Never encountered a scam like this. Seems like this was a real person too maybe? What do y’all think
