AIO to my gf's dancing

I’ve been dating my girlfriend for about a year. Since before we met, she’s been deeply involved in a Latin American partner dance that’s synchronized, expressive, and somewhat sensual. She takes weekly classes and occasionally attends social dance events. I fully support her passion, though I have to admit that actually seeing her dance triggers feelings of insecurity. The dance involves close contact—touching, spinning, and moving together—which naturally makes me uncomfortable.

I’ve told her that while I don’t have a problem with her dancing, it’s hard for me to watch. It doesn’t help that she’s attractive and has told me that several people in the dance scene have flirted with her or offered her free (sometimes private) classes. She believes these offers are purely about her dancing skill, but I can’t help suspecting ulterior motives.

Recently, she attended a major dance congress where she danced with many partners. I accepted it, even though I wasn’t thrilled. But after the event, she posted several videos on Instagram, and one in particular bothered me—a partner placed his hand on her belly while dancing. When I brought it up, she admitted that touch wasn’t part of proper technique and said she hadn’t noticed it at the time. I asked her to remove or shorten the video since I felt humiliated seeing that shared publicly. She refused, saying her dance community loved it and deleting it would seem strange.

I told her I felt ignored and invalidated, especially since she agreed that the touch was inappropriate. The argument escalated until I told her that if she valued our relationship, she’d take it down. She eventually did, but only after I made it clear how deeply it affected me. For me, it wasn’t just about the video—it was about feeling that her social validation mattered more than my feelings. She later said I was overreacting and making a fuss over nothing.

For the record, I completely trust her and know she’d never cheat. The issue isn’t jealousy—it’s the visceral reaction I have to seeing her dance with others. Watching her dance feels uncomfortably intimate, almost like I’m witnessing something sexual. I know that’s irrational, and I’d never ask her to stop dancing, but I can’t fully control how it makes me feel. I can avoid seeing her dance in person, but when videos are public, it’s harder to ignore.

Dancing is incredibly important to her, and I try to be supportive—but moments like this leave me feeling deflated and unseen. Am I exaggerating? And regardless of who’s “right,” is there hope for our relationship if I react this way to something she truly loves?
