Hunter (A1229967) is a one-year-old, 52-pound sweetheart who deserves a second chance at life. He is the perfect dog for any lifestyle and was once clearly loved—he still wears a handsome Wrangler leather collar that hints at his past.

Despite being on the shelter’s euthanasia list after more than 30 days without any interest, Hunter remains a gentle, affectionate boy. He’s a chill companion who loves having his booty scratched and will happily lean against your legs for more attention—sometimes even trying to climb into your lap like he’s a big cuddle bug. In playgroup, he starts off a little nervous but quickly warms up, showing his friendly nature with handlers and other dogs, even jumping right into play once he feels comfortable. Hunter isn’t overly demanding; he’s content to wander the yard, relax by your side, and soak up love. This easygoing, affectionate pup is waiting for someone to see just how special he is and give him the loving home he truly deserves.

Hunter is currently at a very high euthansia shelter in Bakersfield, Kern County Animal Shelter. All adoptions can be done over the phone.

Transport is available across Norcal with SafePawsRide, a Sacramento based transport.
