London Plane Trees are shit!
As someone with hayfever, those blasted London Plane Trees are the absolute worst! Cannot stand the damn things. Cut the bloody things down and replace the lot with natives, and spare my (and others) poor sinuses every spring!
The most annoying thing about those rotten bloody nostril destroyers is that they were only commonplace in London because of air pollution in the Industrial Revolution. Apparently, they're very good at filtering the smog and airborne particulates that killed thousands back when coal fires were burning all over London.
Good for London. Except Melbourne never had air quality as bad as 1800s London, and the bloody Plane Trees were planted all over the place because the forebears who set out our fair city were such forelock-tugging arse-lickers that they wanted to pretend they were still back in bloody London (same reason the silly bastards brought in sparrows and foxes and blackberrys and every other noxious pest), so now we're stuck with the damn things being "iconic" or some such bollocks.
Cut 'em all down, I say! Do it for the sake of the nostrils!
Just a rant. Hayfever makes me ranty.
