Where to buy decently priced packs and which packs to get?

Trying to get cards for my kids for Christmas, but packs be $10-13 each now instead of the like $4-6 they used to be. I don't need the latest sets or anything either. Anyone got suggestions on pack runs to look into and where to pick them up? Even eBay is just a joke. All these adults going in and scalping them in mass is crazy. My local stores never have anything anymore and havent for like a year. Theres like 3 spots in the mall, including those vending machines and they're EMPTY. Amazon prices are meh.

Id get Elite Trainer Boxes, but they're basically the same price as $10 packs. The tins are the same deal. I just don't see a way to pay like $6 a pack anymore.
