What is wrong with Google and Batteries?

The battery in my pixel 6 swole up and pushed the screen out, now I have a Pixel 9 that is 6 months old. I've been using both adaptive charging and limiting the charge to 80% yet after 6 months the battery capacity already reports as 93%, the phone gets really hot while charging (using a standard USB PD power supply). Also it charges way slower than my 7 year old OnePlus phone which still works fine and hasn't blown up.
