Help Me Decide How to Proceed
Aquired this dining table for free a while ago, and I'm sanding it down and refinishing it. It is allegedly cherry. The picture shows what it looks like after I sanded the top surface. There are quite a few oil stains on the left hand side, and right side, especially the corner towards the bottom has none. I am not sure how to proceed from here honestly regarding the whole oil stain situation. I heavily doubt that I will able to just extract the oil out of the table, but I do want the color of the surface to have some sense of uniformity after restoration. Should I oild the whole thing? Or should I stain it trying to match the oil stain color? Or should I simply apply a coat of polyurethane and call it?
Any suggestions will be appreciated!
