Self harm scars making me miserable. Will they even fade?

So basically I scratched my thigh with scissors around a month ago and I have a big spot on my thigh that's covered in brown hyperpigmented scars from the scratches. It makes me want to die (figuratively) because I don't even self harm regularly. It was a one time thing that happened because I had a big mental breakdown. The last time I self harmed before that was in middle school, which is over 5-6 years ago. As I said, I'm not a regular self harmer.

I searched up scar removal in my country, and apparently you have to pay around 200 usd just to remove 1cm of scarring, which I would never be able to afford because the area is quite big and i don't even have 200 usd.

My mom regularly checks my body when she visits me (which is coming up in around 2-3 months) and my parents are going to institutionalize me and strip me of any opportunity towards achieving my dream/career, and absolutely ruin my life. In my country you can forcefully institutionalize someone if 2 people and a doctor agrees, and if there is risk of self harm, which I technically qualify. It's going to be fucking over for me.

If the scars don't improve or fade the last resort i have is burning my thigh with hot water to cover it up and make it look like an injury and not self harm. No tattooing over it is not an option because my parents think tattoos are like cocaine. I'm not actively suicidal (sorry for my name, bad choice) and I've been trying really hard to improve myself these days, and trying to get productive with school and studies, but the self harm scars are making me more miserable than anything else in my life right now. I can't stop checking them every few minutes and feeling bad and very guilty and paranoid about it every time. I have nightmares about it too and i can't stop thinking about them when i go to sleep. It's not fucking fair man, I'm not even a regular self harmer and one slip up literally torments my life.
