Manhattan Recreation Rowing Clubs

Hello NY!

For years I’ve been looking for a Manhattan-based recreational rowing (crew) club. I know there are several further north of the city, but I live in FiDi and I’m looking for something more easily accessible.

Is rowing/skulling not permitted on the Hudson or East River (I’ve never even seen any shells on the water) or am I just missing it?

I’d love to know if there are local (Manhattan-based) clubs around where I can join a team and/or take out a single in the morning or evening for a leisurely row!

(FYI, I have seen the Village Community Boathouse at Pier40 but those are larger row boats and I am looking for the carbon fiber rowing shells.)
