Review of government sponsored coaching institute in Thane Maharashtra

UPSC Beginner

I am writing this as a review of the government-sponsored coaching institute present in Thane District of Maharashtra called "Chintaman Rao Deshmukh Institute for Administrative Careers (CDIAC)."

Before joining this institute, I tried to find information on reviews, but there was almost none at all. So please consider this as a review for this institute, which can be beneficial for some.

I will provide a review of the below parameters: A. Quality of faculty and syllabus coverage B. Answer writing and prelims test preparation C. Management authorities D. Infrastructure

A. Quality of Faculty and Syllabus Coverage

  1. Most of them teach only in Marathi and are mostly politically oriented, except for geography and internal security.
  2. They don't cover the syllabus point by point but instead talk about their political narrative in class centered around BJP, Shiv Sena, and Congress debates.
  3. The ethics faculty is totally a vile person who swears a lot in lectures in front of female aspirants; he hurls abuses at political leaders.
  4. Except for the above two subjects, none of the faculty try to teach the syllabus properly. For example, the economics professor selects keywords from topics and concepts, asks the class to explain, and directly moves on to the next topic with no explanation by himself.

B. Answer Writing and Prelims Preparation

  1. They have 2 official test series: "Mains Ready by December" and "Prelims Weekly Tests." Both are answer writing tests, not MCQ-based tests. Apparently, they don't know that prelims is MCQ-based.
  2. They ask static questions in both series. The quality of questions is low to medium, but checking is good enough—they provide good inputs.
  3. They scrapped the "Mains Ready by December test series" in the middle of October, leaving students in the air, and didn't even entertain student requests for continuing the same.

C. Management Authorities

  1. The only word to describe them is "bullies." They will treat all aspirants like school kids, and any small violation results in direct elimination from the institute.

D. Infrastructure

  1. Alas, the only good thing in the institute is the infrastructure. They have good study rooms, hostel facilities, and a library. 2 They provide an attendance-based stipend of ₹3,000 per month.

To all serious aspirants, I call for caution not to join this institute, as the lack of adherence to schedule, improper faculty, and constant harassment from management staff will only eat away at your mental health.

TLDR: Be cautious while joining the institute, as it doesn't provide quality coaching.
