Ceiling, Wall and Flooring Water Damage (9 October 2025)- 7 Jackes Avenue
It was first reported yesterday, 9 October 17:32, by the STA (Summerhill Tenants Association) that there was flooding occurring from the HVAC units.
This evidently resulted in many units (ie. more than 3 dozen) having wet and damaged ceilings, walls and potential lifting/damage to the parquet floors. The STA suggested that residents move furniture and drapes as required so that water damage would not impact personal possessions/furniture. This information and advice was far more detailed than what SK later provided.
While first reported by the STA at 17:32 pm it took SK until 18:22 pm to send out an ALERT to Residents, only stating
- "...we are aware of the leak issue in multiple units..."
- "..the HVAC contractor is currently en route and will be addressing the problem shortly..."
- "...another contractor will be attending to clean and remove any water from your unit.."
It should be noted that the onsite staff were either not in the building, or were and did not know how to handle the issue so they simply went home, thereby leaving Residents to try and handle the problem as best they could on their own.
Now more than 16 hours after the issue began, we have received no further information from SK, such as:
- What caused the issue?
- Was it related to the changeover from ac to heat?
- What is being done to ensure it DOES NOT happen again?
- Why were staff not brought back into the building to assist/answer the many Residents impacted?
- When will the work begin on re-plastering/repairing impacted units?
Another example of SK appearing to drop the ball again! This time, with serious building flooding, and a seemingly lack of concern for Residents, by not providing timely, accurate and detailed information and follow up details!
