Adding an inverter

I have an electrical question. We do a lot of boondocking so I want to install an inverter. We don't use our AC outlets for a whole lot, mostly for a TV and charging laptops. For context, we have a roof AC. But we don't have a microwave. Obviously I'm not going to add the AC to the inverter, so I don't think we need to pull a lot of electricity.

So here is my plan, I was thinking of attaching the DC to the battery as is prescribed in a million online tutorials. But then I was thinking about wiring directly to the gfci outlets in the camper, bypassing the circuit breaker. This would give us a few AC outlets that will work on DC power. Some will stay on shore power.

Those outlets that are attached to the inverter, would always work off of the inverter whether we were attached to shore power or not. That just seems easier than dealing with a transfer switch.

Does that make sense? Am I going to set the camper on fire? Will everything work?
