[US] i think T-Mobile is trying to scam me.
I traded in my old phone that was about $70 off from being completely paid off for the new iPhone. The store told me i could trade it in and get 1100 worth of credit applied to my bill if i finance the phone. Said they would order it to the store and then trade my phone in there once it comes in.
Sometime later the phone arrives at my house, i take it to the store and that guys not there. New guy says to me that since “i ordered the phone to my house” i have to send it back in myself and they don’t accept trade ins in the store. Completely different from what the other guy told me.
I have my new phone. Turned off location services and find my iPhone and all that. Factory reset the phone and sent it in.
Just got a text saying they applied 70 in credit towards my next bill for the trade in and that the promotion was cancelled. I called and they said my 15 isn’t damaged or water damaged and it powers on but find my iPhone is on? Which isn’t true because i remember jumping through hoops to turn it off before i sent it back.
So i just got off the phone with T-Mobile, the rep kept saying “give me a moment to look further….it looks like…. Give me a moment”. So it doesn’t make sense why i would trade in a nearly mint condition almost paid off iPhone 15PM for 70 dollars credit which she agreed wouldn’t make sense. But now that they have my phone she said they can’t send that phone back, and said the promotion ended but she wants to get another pair or eyes on this or if i have buyers remorse i can go back to the store i bought it from. Seems like they’re trying to scam me out my old phone and the promotion that they said would be 1100 worth of credit which is the whole reason why i upgraded in the first place. She said she’ll do a follow up call on Tuesday so that they can look further into it.
So am i now screwed out of my iPhone 15 and paying full credit minus 70 dollars from my old phone, to a 1400 iPhone 17PM? Has anyone experienced this or should i just wait for their reply. I have a 7 month old and I’m a single father, i would never traded my phone in if they were gonna pull something like this. But I’m hoping Tuesday they get it resolved. It just felt like the way she kept saying her job is to educate me on understanding how to move forward meant “you’re getting screwed over so you can trade in your new phone and thanks for the iPhone 15”.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, i feel so defeated and nervous waiting for them to call me on Tuesday. I guess I’m just anxious but i don’t understand what’s going on or why they wouldn’t take my trade in, in the store. Had a feeling i was going to have a problem, i didn’t expect it to be this.
