The Straw Hats have grown so much in every possible way from the start and have collected more and more members as they’ve continued. With this in mind what does it mean when all of their abilities have developed demonic or monster names and looks. I was talking in another post about haki and how it’s the one power in most shows or fiction anywhere that allows the user to develop their OWN unique moves.

Haki is unique since most verses use uniform power systems. For example; MHA, One Piece (DF), JJK, Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, etc. These verses have cool abilities but you’re born with a natural affinity in them usually and there’s nothing you can do but develop them. As for Haki it’s strictly unique to its user which is so cool to me. Sanji’s Ifrit Jambe, Zoros Asura presence, Luffy’s Red Hawk, Garps galaxy punch, Mihawks cool nameless but huge green slashes, Shanks Divine Departure. These moves are all unique to them and each one is based on their fighting style and personality.

So with all of this in mind if you look below I have given a little comparison of the crews abilities that relate to demons and shown that even with the members that don’t have demonic names are still developing unique lines of thinking and abilities that reflect a theme.

What this theme is I don’t know completely. IMO: The crew seems to be changing or altering in whatever way they can to help Luffy. Even if it means becoming a monster. For example Zoro trained under his declared nemesis. Sanji suffered on Kawabaka Island for 2 years with no women. Chopper abandoned his attempt to look close to human in his base form just to grow stronger. The list goes on.

So my question to you readers is this; What do you think the evidence below and the continued “stripping of themselves” mean for the straw hats. Is it just a show of loyalty that is meant to show how much they care for Luffy. Or. Is this entire underlying theme of demons, monsters, and events like “sanjis germa enhancement taking stage” foreshadowing a dark future for the straw hats?

Examples of the
Demonic Theme Amongst the Crew
—————————————————————

Sanji- Diablo/Ifrit Jambe (魔神風脚)
(Majin Fūkyaku) "Demon God Style Leg"

Zoro- 鬼気九刀流阿修羅
(“Kiki Kyūtōryū”: Ashura)
Kiki- "demonic aura" or "ghastly spirit".

Robin- 悪魔咲き
 (akuma zaki) (“Demonio Fleur”)
悪魔 (akuma): Means "demon" or "devil".
悪 (aku): "Evil" or "bad".
魔 (ma): "Demon," "magic," or "wickedness".

Brook- “Chills of the Underworld”
黄泉の冷気 (“yomi no reiki”).
黄泉 (よみ, yomi): Underworld
の (no): A particle indicating possession, connecting "underworld" and "chills."
泉 (せん, sen): Spring. The literal meaning is "yellow spring," a poetic reference to the mythological Chinese realm of the dead.

Luffy- (業火拳銃)
( "Hellfire” "Pistol") (Gōka Kenjū)

Usopp- 緑星・デビル
(“Green Star: Devil”) (“Midori Boshi • Debiru)

Jimbei- “Onigawara Seiken"
(鬼瓦正拳, True Tile Fist) (Origin: The name "Onigawara" refers to a type of roof tile in Japanese architecture, often decorated with fearsome images like an oni (ogre or demon).)

Crew Members lacking demonic narrative
—————————————————————-

Nami- None yet (But she is member of an ancient race the Vastaya who are affected by magic from the spirit world so we can wait to see her develop a demonic move)

Chopper- None yet
(*interesting connection -Chopper Comments on wanting to be a monster though when Zoro asks about why is normal form is freakishly big now during
Fishman Arc)

Franky- None yet
(*Interesting connection- Franky's name and cyborg nature are a reference to Frankenstein's monster. In the story, he survived a tragic incident by rebuilding his body with discarded ship parts, echoing the story of Dr. Frankenstein creating a monster from scraps.)
