I need the Gleb lore…

I watched DWTS back in the day, maybe the first 6 or so seasons, and then took a looooong hiatus until Season 32. Why do we dislike Gleb? I am pretty familiar with the whole Brooks stuff and honestly find both of them annoying about it now, but I’m getting that people didn’t like him before that, too? Is there some lore I’m not aware of? Are we supposed to hate him? I think he’s an incredible dancer.
