How are you acquiring new cards?

Returning player here, stopped a long time ago when it used to be keys and came back to this new system now, spent all my tokens on packs to catch up but didn't get anything that has any chemistry because of how big the pool is, and the smaller season one is even more full of crap. So how are you getting cards these days? Just wait till they spawn and pin them or ? Oh and I know the subreddit has a reputation for being unthankful but come on, season three cards in the welcoming back rewards when they haven't dropped anything in over a year??
