What's the community opinion on e-collars?

At risk of being roasted again on this sub, I am wondering how people feel about e-collars? My 3 month old lab puppy, Zelda, has been working with a professional trainer for the past month. Zelda is very smart, very opinionated, and VERY food motivated. The trainer said she's one of the most strong willed/highly food motivated dogs she has worked with. She is now suggesting a prong collar or e-collar as Zelda's training progresses. I know there is a lot of debate in the dog training community about positive reinforcement / negative reinforcement methods. It seems like an e-collar might be a good option for Zelda, considering she needs a bit of a heavier hand (that might be the wrong way to put it, but she's just so strong willed).

We are considering an e-collar over a prong collar so that we can work on problem behaviors in the house (like counter surfing) without her having to be on leash all the time. Additionally, she is going to a board/train facility in a couple of months, and that facility uses e-collars for recall training (if we want). I'm just looking for advice on how to be a responsible demon owner.
