Hello, I Just reread again Can we become a family from the start, as I have dropped it during the s2 hiatus.
I will not talk about some of the issues with the series, such as the pacing, but I think it plays a big part in why I dont understand why it didn't finished with s3.

So first of all, when can we consider a series (manhua, manga, movies etc...) finished. To me it come mainly to 3 things.
1. Did the objectives of the protagonist/story were attained
2. Did the important question the protagonist AND the reader haves have been answered (this one is a bit more tricky, as a lot of story like to let the reader create their own answers, but it gives them material to create those answers)
3. When the story doesn't have any more "challenges" to propose.

And, I think, all those criteria have been met with Can we Become a family.

For the 1st part I will talk about the objectives :
So what are the objectives in this story, in chronological order as some objectives appear later in the story.

Some are made pretty clear by the protagonist herself which are :

O1. Survive
O2. Revenge
O3. Make house etherald great

Some are implied to the reader trough what the protagonist want but doesnt dare to make it an objectiv herself :

O4. Getting a family, a real one
O5. Save her father from his eternal torment
O6. Getting married (linked to the previous 4th, and actualy a lame one)

So, what about those objectives ?
To me, they all have been mostly met in the 3 first season.

O1. She survived, no more to say.

O2. Here it becomes tricky, but we can say that her revenge is mostly met :
A. The imperial family members that wronged her are finished.
B. Her adoptive family is mostly finished. (Mostly is the important part here)

O3. House etherald is basicaly an independant country rivalizing with the empire in terms of power as the emperor said so...its completely met.

O4. She gets a family in house etherald.

O5. Her dad become a litteral god (or demi-god, or sexy god idk, because he is not a god anymore but have all the power of a god, makes no sense)

O6. Litteraly proposed to each other at the end of s3. Yes the mariage didnt happen but thats mostly done too.

For the important question I see mostly 2 in this story, all answered pretty soon in the story, after that there is no real mystery :

Q1. What are her powers, where does it come from, its limit etc.. ?

Q2. Who is the Duke ?

They all have been answered :

Q1. Blablabla father is an incarnate, blablabla nix.

Q2. Her father.

For the challenges, I will list some of the ones that existed and see if they exist at the end of s3

C1. Her adoptive family

C2. Her father illness

C3. The finance and standing of the etherald family

C4. The empress and her son

Again, all those challenges have been overcome:

C1. you could say her adoptive family still exist, but, if we follow what was said during s3 :
A. they have no more political power
B. The heirs are absolutely trash
C. THey should be bankrupt, as their main and almost only source of revenu now is worth nothing (mana mines)
-> So they are absolutely inexistant as a threat

C2. He is cured, and a god, or demi-god, or sexy god idk

C3. As rich as an empire, more to say ?

C4. Dead. The new empress is the protagonist friend.

So, as we can see there is NO challenges to this family of incarnate/demi-god or whatever they are now.

So my question is WHY does the story didnt end here.

You could say she didnt take proper revenge and annihilated her adoptive family.
My answer is : Yes, but can you realy imagine a full season based on that ? Where is the challenge, the scheming, the thrill. It could litteraly be ended in one chapter at a trial, or overnight with a random fire blast on their house. There is nothing interesting about them anymore as an enemy: no power and no money

The other thing could be : but they didnt fully marry yet.
Do we realy need a full season for a mariage. Again, nothing is interesting about it as a main plot point instaed of a side quest for the protagonist.

So my point, again, is why this story goes on and where the story is going. Are they going to pull a new enemy absolutely not introduced from their ass ? Like some chief of the celestial entity coming down on earth and they have to fight it ?
Honestly thats the most probable thing that will happen, but do you find it interesting ? Where is the scheming in that ? Where is the craftiness, or just the plot.

So yeah, it was a post to mostly rant, but also to see if others had a similar opinion.
To me the story should have had 3 or 4 more chapters and ended there, because its finished.

Thank you for reading this massive post.

I dont understand why "Can we become a family" isn't finished. (Spoiler)
