Are these reasons for Kushina abandoning Naruto/Konoha too shallow?
In the fic im writing Kushina has taken the remnants of the Uzumaki Clan (survived and came to Konoha) to the capital and into the service of the Daimyo.
The world is a lot more darker and medival in tone and setting.
I want it to be a reasonable choice for her to make without turning her into a straight up horrible person like many neglect/abandon fic.
Kushina is distantly related to the last king of Whirlpool, so Naruto is the leader of the clan (Uzumaki rule of inheritance is Primogeniture) but as he is so young she is regent.
The Daimyo offers to turn the Uzumaki into a noble clan if they relocate to the capital and give up their royal title and assimilate into Land of Fire. Giving them some lands and titles and placing her as head of the clan.
The reasons she accepts:
Securing a place for the Uzumaki, who were foreigners and did not want to simply become Konoha shinobi, a noble clan of Land of Fire is much greater and closer to their former status. There was also some resentment from Konoha after the seal on Kushina failed at Naruto’s birth.
The loss of Minato (dies sealing nine-tails) obviously hits her hard and dealing with the inconsolable loss while constantly reminded in the village is something she wants to escape.
She grows a bit resentful towards the premise of her family having to house the nine-tails for ingrates in Konoha, but politically she is weak, just the widowed wife of the fourth.
So in the short term she has to abandon Naruto, as he can’t go, being the jinchuriki and a important figure to Konoha. Her intention is always for him to join them once she solidifies their place and can gain the daimyo’s favor to pressure Konoha.
Does this seem reasonable to you? Does she come off as a mother with good intentions?
