Trouble Finding Hinge Replacements for 1980s cabinets
Hi all, first-time poster here.
We're having a really difficult time trying to locate replacement hinges for our kitchen/bathroom cabinets. Our building was constructed in 1986 (Vancouver, Canada) and we think the cabinets are original.
With our limited knowledge of cabinets and hinges, the issue we think we are running into is that the distance from the edge of the hinge cup to the edge of the door is much wider (~15mm) than any modern hinges we can find. We've read that bore holes should typically be drilled to leave a 3-6mm distance to the edge and therefore why we can't find any hinges that fit properly.
I can make out a few numbers on the hinge pieces but nothing comes up in a Google search and there's no brand name visible.
Does anyone know if hinges like this can still be found, or, if there's a way to modify modern hinges to work without creating a new cup hole?
We're not experienced cabinet people or DIY-ers so we're at a bit of a loss. Any advice is much appreciated!
