Safe to run fog machine through light socket adaptor?

Hi all. My partner just bought a 1,000 watt fog machine that he wants to put out front for Halloween. We live in a rental with no outdoor outlets so he’s planning to run it through a light socket adapter where the front light is. I feel like this a major fire hazard but he insists it’s not because it will only run intermittently. Am I wrong?
