Problem with nt1 SS + Scarlett solo 3rd gen

Hey folks, quick question. I’m running a Rode NT1 Signature Series into a Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen, and no matter how close I get to the mic, my vocals never sound “in your face.” It’s like there’s an invisible compressor or limiter baked into the signal — good tone but zero body, and the 1–4k presence range feels hollow. I built a rock wool vocal booth, checked phase, used the stock Rode XLR cable, Anyone ever dealt with a Scarlett or NT1 acting like this? Could the Solo’s preamp be choking the dynamics, or is my mic possibly defective?
