The Strokes - Aug 14, 2004 - Underground Garage Rock Festival (NYC)

Back in 2004, 'Little Steven' Van Zandt decide to throw a party on Randall's Island in NYC - the Underground Garage Rock Festival, featuring some of his favorite old school rock 'n roll bands, including the Stooges, The New York Dolls, The Dictators, The Strokes and many others. I was at the festival with pals to see all these bands, but I wanted to see the Strokes again.

It was a hot muggy daylong event and we were all drinking, so by the time the Strokes came on at night, things were fuzzy. But it was a revelation to see the Strokes again, after a few years. And today, I found the video of their Underground Garage Rock Festival performance, and it looks pretty boss after all these years! And it's clear that Julian was riffing like mad on the microphone, as I remember...
