Are my grades here really equivalent to other Canadian Unis?
In terms of post-grad applications in Canada, as far as I'm aware there's no formal acknowledgement of differences between Universities. All my friends from Queen's, Western, McMaster, SFU, UVic, etc. explain some of their course structure, show me their course material and it just seems way easier to succeed in some other places. Meanwhile UBC alongside UofT and Waterloo seem to be particularly harsh in regards to grading. Also, if we're talking about standardizing, how does pooling to create an average from a class of UBC students equate to pooling an average from a low-entry community College? I spent a term at a community College and being top of class was a billion times easier than here, especially when they would standardize grades. This isn't complaining about ubc difficulty, not trying to form self pity, nor is it shaming other Universities, just genuinely curious. Academic Advisor didn't really help explain it in a way I understood. Thanks!
