Saul Williams at Black Cat parking guide?

hey figured i'd share some parking tips for the saul williams show at the black cat since that area can be a real headache.

honestly the easiest thing i've found is using an app called Prked. it lets you rent private driveways or garages from people who live right next to the Black Cat. it's usually way cheaper than the public garages and you can book it in advance. you get a guaranteed spot a short walk away and you dont have to deal with the traffic chaos right at the venue.

if you dont go that route, the Black Cat's website suggests the pay lot at the reeves center, which is at 14th and U street. it's probably the closest big garage and they say it's your best bet. there are other garages around but they're a bit more of a walk.

i would seriously avoid trying to find street parking. most of the meters around there have a two-hour limit, and you'll be at the show for way longer than that. you dont want to be worrying about getting a ticket in the middle of the set. some spots are free but they are super hard to find.

another good option is to just not drive at all. the U Street/Cardozo metro stop is super close to the venue, just a block or two away. probably the most stress-free option if you can swing it.
